Project Manager Technical Programs - Montgomery, AL

REPORT TO: Deputy Director, Workforce & Economic Development
POSITION SUMMARY: The Project Manager of Technical Programs manages project teams of instructional designers, developers
and facilitators to promote a safety culture and drive continuous improvement within client companies
and colleges. The Senior Manager of Technical Programs works closely with School campuses to assist
with setting up credit/ noncredit programs and enhance the deliverable for various campuses across the
State. The Senior Manager of Technical Programs also manages special projects as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology, Instructional Design, Adult Education or related
2. Minimum of 15 years’ experience in Industrial Workforce Development to include training
responsibilities or Manufacturing/industry experience (15 + years) with Industrial Certificates and
at least 15 years in training responsibilities may be substituted for the bachelor’s requirement.
3. Certification in one or more of the following programs is required: Airframe & Power Plant,
OSHA Authorized Industrial Safety Instruction, Industrial Welding/Cutting, General or CNC
Machining, Fabrication and or Layout/Fitter, Electrical/Instrumentation, Hydraulics/Pneumatics,
Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Aviation Technology. Ten years of significant experience
with any of the above programs may substitute for certification.
WORK REQUIRMENTS:  Ability to multi-task and coordinate activities to ensure timely delivery of work product
 Ability to travel and drive own or other vehicle to various locations as needed
 Ability to carry up to 20 pounds on an as needed basis

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:

 Conduct Business Analysis to determine industrial workforce development materials for ACCS
 Provides consultation to management for development of job-specific training, including
research, evaluation and selection of outside contractors and trainers.
 Produce effective organizational, coordination, time management and multi-tasking
 In collaboration with others, determine appropriate delivery mechanisms and venues based on the
subject matter and audience.
 Interface regularly with industrial clients and subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop and
deliver quality industrial training materials with relevant activities.
 Self-driven and work effectively within a cross-functional team with minimal supervision.
 Evaluate effectiveness of training and continually upgrade curriculum.
 Provide excellent classroom leadership and presentation skills.
 Perform work required in a timely manner in order to meet training schedules and commitments.
 Exhibit strong and effective communication, writing skills and attention to detail.
 Leads the development of instructional material, coordinates, and reviews and edits content
 Work closely with ACCS clients and coordinate training programs and resources based on
organizational and client needs.
 Incorporate adult learning principles.
 Provides training as needed
 Provides supervision and mentoring to faculty
 Provides leadership in assessing learning outcomes for students enrolled in the aviation program
 Performs other duties as assigned
