In this course participants will learn how to read and construct basic circuits using actual components. This course includes pneumatic safety, basic theory, and hands-on circuit development activities.

At the end of this course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Interpret pneumatic symbols and pneumatic diagrams
  2. Safely construct basic pneumatic circuits

  • Differences in Pneumatics and Hydraulics
  • Basic Pneumatic Principles, air temperature, moisture, contaminants and contaminate removal, volume, pressure, compression, cooling, and the Gas Laws: Boyle’s, Charles, Gay Lussac’s and Combined Gas Laws
  • Symbol reading
  • Relief valves,
  • Filters, lubricators, and regulators
  • Directional control valves
  • Flow control valves
  • Cylinders and motors
  • Compressors
  • Flow control valves
  • Check valves
  • Directional control valves
  • Cylinders and motors
  • Hands on labs: motor speed control, DCV operation, meter out/in cylinder speed control options, regulating multiple circuits, logic functions, vacuum and cylinder loading
